About your instructor
A Washington native, Ashley has been teaching various styles of dance for nearly a decade. Companies include the Dallas Darlings tap team, Soul to Sole Dance Company, Paradise Theatre, the BYU Ballroom Dance department, and many musical theatre productions. With her professional healthcare experience, bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, and a personal training certification, Ashley utilizes her background in biomechanics to teach healthy, safe, and dynamic movement. She believes in choreography as storytelling and uses this expressive quality to connect with students of all ages and get them excited about their own abilities as an athlete and performer.
"Tap for the Actor": A ten-week beginner's intensive designed with the actor in mind. With no more than ten students, this is an intimate group of performers who want to learn a new (and fun!) skill to be more competitive and castable in the world of musical theatre. No experience is required, though intermediate level tappers are more than welcome to come refresh their skills and polish their technique with an expert in precision tap.
two classes are offered as separate cohorts and each meet once a week:
TUESDAYS at 3:00 pm (Lakewood)
or saturdays at 9:00 am (gig Harbor)
Enrollment is OPEN NOW for the first session beginning the week of February 11th! Tuition is $150 at the time of sign up, which reserves your spot in the class and covers all ten weeks of instruction.
"Performance Conditioning": This is not your typical exercise class at the Y. Laser-focused on the demands of performance, Ashley leads the class through a unique mix of flexibility, sprint circuits, breath support, and jump training to mimic the anaerobic needs of musical theatre. Enrollment is on a drop-in basis using PunchPass and classes are offered at the following times:
SUndays at 11:00 am (Lakewood)
wednesdays at 3:00 PM (gig harbor)
"Theatre Jazz": Technique focused, this weekly class increases the actor's confidence in learning show choreography and terminology while developing foundational skills in various styles of jazz dance. It is an intermediate/open level drop-in class, meaning dancers of all levels are welcome to come participate and be guided based on where they are in their training. Whether you have a triple pirouette or a piroWHAT?! this is your weekly brushup.
